This talk presents findings from 2004 fieldwork on the Newar dialect spoken in Tauthali,  a village about 25 km from Dolakha as the crow flies, in Sindhupalchok District. This variety is mutually intelligible with the Dolakha variety, although distinct differences in the phonology and grammar are identified.  Following a survey of these features, the paper concludes that the two dialects are varieties of a single Newar language, at the time labeled "Northeastern Newar."
