In addition to producing the full film of the play, we contracted with The News Nepal, Ltd, to create an associated documentary. .The film focuses on the play, the community, the language, and the efforts to preserve it. The primary creator of this piece was Mr. Laxman Upreti of The News Nepal, Ltd., whose experience and expertise permeate every scene and who has brought all four films together expertly.
I am grateful for the support of the many people were involved in this project, who put it together in service to the Dolakha Newar community and in support of Nepal's indigenous languages. This includes not only the actors, language coach, and theater team, but also the videographers and technical crew at TNN. The initiative was led by Dr. Hari Darshan Shrestha, Dr. Shyam Joshi (Misāmi author) and myself, with the support of multiple community organizations and individuals who contributed in myriad ways. I continue to be deeply moved by the strength, resilience, and kindness of this community.
